Rachel Carey is a writer, director and filmmaker in the New York City area. She started her film career working for Artisan Entertainment and as a casting assistant on projects for Good Machine, the indie powerhouse. After received an MFA from NYU in Film Directing, she worked as an assistant editor, wrote a bunch of un-produced screenplays, wrote and directed a couple of produced plays, and also wrote a novel, Debt, which was published by Silver Birch Press in 2013 and optioned by Ellen Pompeo's production company Calamity Jane.

Recent projects include writing and directing the short film The Unbelievers, directing a music video for Lily Finnessy, and writing and directing the 1-hour dramatic tv pilot Takers, which screened at Dances with Films and Seriesfest (where it won an award for Best Actress in a drama.) She has also recently completed two feature scripts and is writing a dramatic web series.

She is a member of NYWIFT and of the NYC theater community The Shelter, for whom she has written and directed several plays.
